Holiday, Celebrate!

‘If we took a holiday – it would be, it would be so nice.’

Today officially marks the beginning of my maternity leave!

*Run around the room like a crazy jumping for joy – except don’t actually get very far because you are actually 37-38 weeks pregnant and about to pop!*

Don’t ask me why I thought I should push myself right up to the breaking point – especially seeing as our nursery still isn’t complete. But I did it and hopefully this will mean more time with the baby once it comes (I’m so glad I have a year’s maternity leave) and less time waiting for baby.

So in the next two to three weeks I plan on washing all of my baby gear, packing a hospital bag (although I really should have got my sh*t together today), having some final me time (think long afternoon teas with friends and a pregnancy massage or two), organising the nursery, sleeping (or napping) and watching a few DVDs/trashy programs on Foxtel.

I am yet to decide if I should make some freeze-able meals, I read a lot blogs and baby websites that suggest that I should do this. Although my mum said she never prepared anything and I am guessing that my Dad and Phillip have the same level of cooking skills – i.e. NONE – so we should be fine.

Anyway, Mum said she would drive down and stay with us for a week once I am out of hospital – so I am guessing that between the two of us we should be able to get something on the table.

I am getting really excited to meet the baby and to find out if it is a boy or a girl and who it takes after.

It feels weird that in a month’s time we will be calling the baby a name and it will be so sure and natural … I might even giggle about the opposite sex name that I had picked out (although I will probably still keep that name on the down low in case we want to use it next time).

So welcome March and all the excitement you are sure to bring – this month might not necessarily be a ‘holiday’ although there will be great adventures and lots of things to celebrate!
