Peter Rufai: Nigeria don't need tough friendlies

Rufai noted that Nigeria do not need to play against a tough opponent as the essence of friendly matches at this stage is basically to help organize the team, and assess their general performance.

“Friendly matches are used for a lot of things. Friendly matches don’t need to be with a very tough team before you know how to organise your team. It can be with a weak team. What is most important is the objective of playing such matches," Rufai told The Punch.

“The coach can use the match to study how to pair his key players or to judge the performances of certain players in specific conditions."



The Nigeria Football Federation has already lined-up friendlies against Scotland and the United States. There is also the possibility of an additional friendly match with Croatia.
