MUTTON SEMI GRAVY | MUTTON GOJJU 20932

It started raining in the evening and it felt heavenly! There was a time when it used to rain so unexpectedly and one would think we lived in a hill top. Hubby dear never fails to reminiscent on those early days when he shifted to Madras. It was during February and it used to rain even during that time. Though Madras is always known for the heat, I remember those heavy raining season and the other months when it used to rain just like that.
It surely feels like rain never wants to visit us. It's no wonder I see such surprised expressions, updates on all social media on this shower.
Anyway coming to the recipe for the day, this was sort of a dinner party we had, only it was a birthday and we sort of kept to the starters and the main dinner was very light. So I didn't get to click pictures of all that. We made Chicken Pakoda, Chicken Kababs, Masala Vada and Mutton Goju for the starters.

Chicken Pakoda for the elders, Chicken Kabab for the kids and Masala Vada for the Vegetarians. It was quite a meal as we had the Chocolate cake as well.

Wash and take the mutton in a pressure cooker along with salt and turmeric. Pressure cook for 3 - 4 whistles and let the pressure fall down.

Then heat a kadai with oil, add fennel seeds, followed by onions. Then add ginger garlic paste.

Now add tomatoes, salt, red chili powder, coriander powder. Drain the mutton and add just the pieces.

Saute on high so that the tomatoes get really soft and cooked.

When you find the mutton is well coated with the masala, add the kurma masala podi and continue cooking.

Add the water that you saved up and cook on high.

Finally add the coriander leaves.

Notes

Cooking the mutton first made lot of difference. There surely was a difference in taste.

Since this is a semi gravy, you can cook till all the water evaporates and the gravy coats the mutton pieces.
